Scenario-based question

A scenario-based question puts a concept into a concrete, often unfamiliar situation and asks the student to apply it. Because the case is new, it cannot be answered by recognition alone.

Instead of asking for a definition, a scenario gives a short situation, a small dataset, or a real-world case and asks the student to reason to an answer. This is what moves a question up from recall toward application and analysis.

Scenarios are also more resilient when students have AI to hand, especially when the scenario draws on the class's own data or a case discussed in the room, which a general-purpose tool was never given.
