Bloom's Taxonomy
Bloom's Taxonomy is a six-level model of thinking, from remembering facts up to creating new work, used to pitch questions at the right cognitive demand. The revised version names the levels Remember, Understand, Apply, Analyse, Evaluate, and Create.
The lower levels can often be answered from memory; the upper levels ask students to do something with what they know. Naming the level a question targets makes it easier to build a paper that measures understanding rather than recall alone.
It is a lens, not a rule to obey. A good paper mixes levels on purpose, and the taxonomy just helps you notice when everything has quietly clustered at the bottom.
